Jose’s on Bermondsey Street: Borough, London

Closest Tube Stop: Borough or London Bridge

Tapas @ Jose’s

For a really, really quick snack… I ran down the block and stopped in at Jose’s. My friend’s aunt told me about this place, which is relatively new, and said that it is always packed… so I knew I wanted to give it a try.

Everything sounded good on the menu so I asked the waiter for suggestions. I told him that I wanted to try two specialties and it could be in any category- I know, pretty vague guidelines. So, the waiter tried his best to give me some direction, but the Chef just stepped in, took over and told me his absolute favorite of the day:

Fried Hake with Egg Sauce

After I tried that dish I was craving more… so the Chef cut some spanish proscuitto while I waited for the second creation. I asked for something light and warm… so he made this…

Caramelized Chicory with Walnut & Cheese

Really happy to have made a new friend :) He asked if I’ll be back so I just told him he could count on me to try more of his dishes if I’m ever in the area… definitely looking forward to my next visit!

Try it, you’ll like it: (first come, first serve)
