INTERNATIONAL NIGHT @ BETTYS

For months and months and months, Betty, Kerry and I wanted to organize an International night with all of our friends, both Italian and Ex-Pats, to share different dishes with one another. However, due to busy schedules we didn’t have time to sit down and organize the event.

So! I proposed that we have a mini-international night between the three of us! We set the date for July 16th and all of us met at Betty’s house at 6pm.

I came prepared with my homemade Chinese pork and chive dumplings for a starter. For dinner, I cleaned and cut a variety of fresh vegetables to make into a hot dish and then fresh fruit for dessert.

Betty made plaintains with cheese as a side dish and Cuban chicken with rice as the main dish.

Kerry brought a couple bottles of wine, baci cookies for dessert and cous cous with mint, spinach, beans and black olives.

The night was a huge success! I think we were ALL impressed with each others dishes. The plantains & cheese had to be my favorite because it was the right amount of salty and sweet… but Kerry’s cous cous kept me going back for more!

If you want to make Betty’s plantains, just get 2 plantains, butter and the latin cheese featured below. Layer it and bake it at 180C for 30 minutes (15mins without foil/15mins with foil so it doesn’t burn)… easy peasy lemon squeezy.


Needless to say, the girls did the cooking and the boys did the eating… had a great night but I’m still waiting for my dessert… Perry, where’s that NY Style Cheesecake??
