HOTEL COMMODORE: 2 DAYS/2 NIGHTS (MONTEGROTTO, ITALY)

Hotel Commodore

Via S. Pio X, 2 – Montegrotto Abano Terme

I’ve been in Italy for two years, and I was certain that Italians were foreign to the word: coupon (“Coupon?? Cosa??”)… until I found GroupOn Italy.

With my credit card on file, I kinda sorta went on a shopping spree. Among my many purchases, I found a deal for two people: 2 nights, breakfast, 1 aperitivo, 1 dinner and pool access for 119 euro, can you say sold?

Ready to redeem my spa coupon, I crossed my fingers and wished for the best at 3 Star Hotel Commodore.

Hotel Commodore Montegrotto

Only a kilometer away from the Terme Euganee, we arrived at the enormous resort within 10minutes by foot. Greeted by a friendly face, we were given the keys to our room, a coupon for aperitivo (2 drinks) and a dinner coupon for two.

Hotel Commodore Room

Room: Clean, spacious, comfy beds (crappy pillows), with a view of the pool area from the balcony.

Hotel Commodore Bar

Service: Free Wifi in the Lobby Area, along with two computers available for public use. Indoor/Outdoor Bar, Gym, Beauty Center, Tennis Courts, Large Breakfast and Dining Rooms, four pools and a Ping-Pong Table. Until now, I never realized that ping-pong is just a small version of tennis.

Hotel Commodore Thermal Pool with Hydro Machines

Pools: 1 Olympic pool for lap swimming, 1 Indoor Pool that Connects to the Outdoor Pool at 35C. And last but not least, my favorite, the Outdoor Thermal Pool with multiple Hydro-Massages features at 34C. I spent a majority of my time in the Thermal Pool until my fingers resembled swollen prunes.

Hotel Commodore First Floor Breakfast Room

Food: Breakfast on the first floor offers a well- stocked supply of crackers, a small portion of bacon and eggs (wouldn’t go near the eggs though), cold-cut platter, grain cereals and bread. Unlimited juice, coffee or tea. For dinner, click here for review.

Overall: Pleasantly surprised with Hotel Commodore. We had a good room, spent our afternoons in the pool (the weather was really good to us until the morning we left), and checked into reality with free wifi when needed.

In general, Montegrotto is a desolate town so it is imperative that you enjoy the features in your hotel (think Pleasantville in color with higher prices and possibly less shops). If you want to enjoy the spa life at a reasonable price, stalk GroupOn, or simply make a reservation at Hotel Commodore.
