TWO HOW-TO VIDEOS: CHOCOLATE SALAMI DESSERT // cookies, butter, sugar, chocolate, my 26th birthday treat just for you!!

When I first moved to Italy two years ago, I found it strange that the birthday girl or boy provides their own cake, but now I understand that it’s just standard protocol. Therefore, I’m preparing two versions of the Chocolate Salami dessert via video to share with you!

  • Italian Chocolate Salami: This recipe was borrowed from my Italian friend Clara! Her version is still the best chocolate salami I’ve had in Italy. Try this traditional recipe if you want to taste the authentic version!
  • Americanized Chocolate Banana Salami: In the USA, the US Dept. of Agriculture highly recommends avoiding raw egg in recipes, therefore, Americans are very wary when they hear the word “raw”. So, I’ve created my own version of the Chocolate Salami, based off of Clara’s, by substituting banana for the raw egg… check it out!

Ingredients:

  • 100g  Crushed Shortbread Cookies

  1. Melt butter and let it rest.
  2. In a separate bowl, add chocolate powder and then slowly mix in the butter.
  3. Add sugar.
  4. Add 1 Egg & 1 Yolk
  5. Once the ingredients are in the bowl, add in the crushed cookies.
  6. Lay out a long piece of plastic wrap.
