I grew up on the East Coast, surrounded by my family, friends and familiar faces. In 2009, I decided to change my day-to-day routine by moving to a different country. Looking back, I had no-clue as to what I was getting myself into (changing continents, different cultures, and a completely different language), but I did know that I was ready for a challenge and an experience of a lifetime.
Two years have passed since I made the move to Northern Italy (and to be honest, I didn’t even think I’d make it past 2 months… but I’m SO happy I stayed). I’ve grown up quite a bit. I’ve discovered so much about myself, life, love, family, friendships, value, culture. It took me awhile to appreciate the depth of these basic concepts, and now that I have, I’m starting to understand: happiness.
Life is beautiful in Italy. Its become my home away from home. Even though I’m surrounded by friends who’ve become my family, I feel that it’s time to step outside of my comfort zone (once again) to see how much more I can learn, evolve and experience in a different environment.
“If you don’t get lost, there’s a chance you may never be found…”
So with that said, I’m packing up and switching continents. Holy moly.
