FINDING LOCAL SPOTS IN HONG KONG // the happy medium between good food, good prices & clean dining environment

Lately I’ve been trying to figure out how to choose which Chinese restaurant to dine in, and 99% of the time… all I have to do is listen. Did you hear it?

The sound of a good Chinese eatery is the sound of Cantonese people speaking, and by speaking I mean, at full volume. To me, it literally shouts authenticity.

Even though I can barely hear myself while in an authentic Chinese restaurant, the noise fades once I start to eat. I’m way too involved in the flavors and the textures of the food to be bothered with the people in the background… however, I hear them as soon as my plate is empty.

How else can I find local eateries? Well, I’m still working on finding the happy medium between good food, good prices and a clean environment in Hong Kong… but something tells me I’m headed in the right direction.
