Hi Friends, I’ve been meaning to post on LITTLEMISSLOCAL.com and I apologize for not writing you sooner.
I have what I want to say up in my head… but my minds been a little busy lately. Traveling, eating, thinking, thinking and more thinking… asking myself life questions, figuring out my next step, who I should be when I grow up, accepting the decisions I’ve made thus far and so on.
As you can tell, my journey around the world has allowed me to open up my mind to new ideas, so it’s only natural that I am a bit un-focused. I’ll admit that I am somewhat writers blocked but I’ve found something to help me focus through this challenging period… NO, not drugs… but I definitely hit an energy high with an athletic sportswear company called lululemon athletica.
And yeah, you might be asking, “How does this apply to a foodies life??” but stay tuned (I’ve been spotlighting articles from their blog via FB, but first I’d like to explain how I was introduced to this company).
lululemon was introduced to me by my sister. It was the Fall of 2009 and her first trip to Milan. She presented me with this awesome looking lunch bag with powerful quotes on it (which would’ve been a present in itself). When I opened the bag I found a pair of black shorts with a purple waistband.
At first I really didn’t think much of the shorts; I was actually hoping there would be a Levain Cookie at the bottom of the bag, but it was empty after the shorts… so I said, “Cool. It has underwear inside. Pretty.” Tossed the shorts aside and continued to read the bag.
Months after my sister left, when the weather was warmer, I needed something to put on quickly. I ransacked my closet to find sweaters, coats, leggings, jeans. Umm, not warm-weather friendly. So I continued to dig and finally found the black shorts with the purple band. I never tried them on before (because I knew I was keeping them no matter what) but once I did, it was love at first touch.
I felt sexy and comfortable. Secure and sporty. And to be perfectly honest, I felt like I wanted to exercise. Inspired by a pair of shorts??? Hell-to-the-yeah.
Now it’s 2012 and lululemon inspired me once again… but through their website.
As you can tell, lululemon is all about promoting positive energy- mentally and physically. As I’ve gotten to know the company better, I realize that their vision/mission match up with mine. Or at least match up with the lessons I’ve been learning on this life journey around the world (understanding oneself/others, commitment, ownership, integrity).
Furthermore, lululemon has this great goal setting program, and in order to give myself some focus/clarity at present, I’ve decided to follow their “big-picture/life in 10years program” by writing my personal life goals on paper (and yes, there’s a huge difference between having “an idea on your mind” vs. “down on paper”… you’ll feel the difference and it’s scary, liberating, painful and exciting).
So I’ve been
avoiding working on these goals for approximately 3 weeks and it’s a lot harder than one would think. I’ve made web graphs, jotted down notes, thrown them away, carried them with me… EVERYWHERE… lost them, started over, wrote new goals, typed them on the computer, deleted it… believe me, the list goes on but I’m happy to say I’m ALMOST there and I apologize for being M.I.A.
Just know that I am writing, I am thinking of you and I will share my goals as well as the rest of my travels with you shortly. Wish me luck xoxo!
And if you’re up for the challenge, TRY GOAL SETTING!
