CHIANG MAI, THAILAND :: DOI SUTHEP // half naked monks, gongs, temples, prayers, flowers, incenses, gold, bells & a gorgeous view

If you’ve been keeping up with LML and following the clues from the last post… you probably guessed that I made my way up the mountain via motorbike to Doi Suthep!

LML TIP: I also tried taking a red truck up the mountain but that was a horrible idea – it costs just as much to rent the bike as it does for a roundtrip ride from a red truck AND you’ll probably get motion sickness (8 people in the back of an open truck… you can figure out the rest)

WHAT TO DO AT THE TOP: When you arrive at the top of Doi Suthep, it’s a large square with a lot to offer. Here are some of the perks after you climb the stairs to the top:

… get a beautiful view of the city,

… an area to be blessed by a monk (yes, you will receive a white bracelet but he will not tie it on girls),

… a row of bells to play with…

… pretty floors to look at…

… an area to purchase flowers & incenses (which are much cheaper than the flowers sold at the bottom of the mountain, but then again these are just to give back to the temple after you’ve prayed),

… a place to reflect…

… a place to hit things…

… and an area where monks aren’t as shy as we thought they’d be…
