The West Village is now home to Gardënia, the latest fusion restaurant featuring Mediterranean cuisine, latin flavors and a touch of european influence.

I ordered the latin short rib empanadas, the skirt steak, and the octopus plate with calamari “squid ink” potatoes. I’ve never had “black papitas” before so I reached out to Chef Mario Hernandez and he shared the recipe with me.
